I love this guy, he is such a great entertainer, funny, versatile and a great ballad writer and singer (and though this clip is funnest for Greek speakers of a certain age, his ballards and music, his interaction with the audience, make him a fine choice even if you don’t understand a word of what is being sung). The setting for this free live concert in Athens, part of the Athens Festival (or should that be Athenian Festival) at the Open Air Theater in Kolonos only added to this cultural treat. The Athens or Athenian Festival runs through September 2009. See our Events Calender for a full list of what’s playing.
Face to face with Myrtis, the girl who played on the Acropolis
The reconstructed 'Myrtis' has called for world leaders to end the spread of disease as part of the UN Millenium Development Goals agreement.'Myrtis' has attracted thousands of people across Greece to see her, has appealed to the world leaders to end the spread of disease and now she earns herself a place amongst historic artefacts in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. All this, and her name isn't actually
Myrtis.
